Clare Compaan

Clare founded Eliza Legal in 2022 after beginning her career in commercial practice and quickly discovering that family law was where she was meant to be. Her innate warmth and genuine care for people made the move a natural one, and it shows in the way she works with every client.

Clare's approach is solutions-focused rather than conflict-driven. She has a particular talent for helping clients see past the challenges of separation and divorce to the opportunities that lie ahead, and for turning seemingly difficult situations into positive new realities. Her expertise lies in resolving matters through mediation and negotiation as efficiently as possible, though she has a wealth of litigation experience and is more than capable of providing robust representation when court proceedings are unavoidable.

She is especially committed to the wellbeing of children, working to minimise conflict and protect them from the impact of separation wherever possible. Every client receives advice that is tailored to their specific circumstances, delivered with the compassion and dignity they deserve.

Outside of work, Clare enjoys a peaceful life on the Mornington Peninsula with her two boys. Spare moments are spent in the garden or out walking her golden retrievers, Rosie and Ralph.
